Pastor to Students and Young Adults

FULL-TIME: Expected salary $35,000 + benefits package

Job Description

 

Objective: The Pastor to Students/Young Adults will lead our youth and young adults (6th Grade to College) to grow in their faith in Christ and encourage them to regularly participate in the young adult ministries of Union Baptist Church. The position will require leading Bible study classes on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and small group on Wednesday evenings.

 

Experience: 1-2 Years Relevant

Education: Degree in Theological Studies (Preferred)

Requirements: Valid Driver's License and ability to drive the church bus when needed for youth activities.

Supervisor: Senior Pastor

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and maintain weekly youth programs for 6th grade through college students.
  • Develop programming including opportunities for spiritual discipleship, fellowship, service, and outreach (i.e. camps, retreats, missions, special events, etc.).
  • Maintain multimedia presentations and a social media presence.
  • Support outreach to our community through local, regional, and international missions.
  • Effectively communicate with students, families, church staff, and congregation.
  • Provide counseling for youth and their parents/guardians as needed.
  • Prepare a budget for the Student ministry for presentation to the Stewardship Team.
  • Provide a monthly youth ministry report to the Senior Pastor to aid in job evaluation.
  • Advise in the program materials and equipment used in all youth activities, including building and space usage and vehicle needs.
  • Assist and fill in as Associate Pastor in the absence of the Senior Pastor.
  • Additional responsibilities may be added as necessary.

Compensation:

  • Payroll taxes are withheld and paid according to law.
  • The Student Pastor will follow church policy as to vacations (based on the status and length of employment). 
  • All absences must be Communicated to the Senior Pastor.
  • Any additional leave will be considered unpaid unless approved by the Senior Pastor and Human Resources Team.
  • The Student Pastor will follow church policy as to sick days based on status and length of employment.

Work Schedule:

  • Regular schedule: 40 hours weekly
  • Sunday: 9-12:30; 4-7:30
  • Wednesday: 4-8:30

Other hours should be discussed with senior pastor. 

Flexibility required including some evenings; Full-day Sundays and Wednesday nights required.
